OSF MINISTRY HEADQUARTERS

Originally recognized as the “Big White Store,” this seven-story building, constructed in 1904, is a notable example of the Chicago School style of architecture. Initially serving as a high-end department store, the structure fell into disrepair as the century progressed. The 2019 rehabilitation effort aimed to restore the building to its former glory, and DeVinci was ready to contribute.

We provided over 520 GFRC pieces, historically replicated and glazed to match the long-demolished white terracotta exterior. Each piece was meticulously designed, molded, and crafted to meet the highest standards of historic restoration. Additionally, we were tasked with reimagining a missing architectural detail—a corbel for which no photographs or concept drawings existed. Our in-house carver skillfully chiseled this detail in limestone.

Today, the building stands proudly restored, exemplifying a harmonious blend of visionary design, modern craftsmanship, and a deep respect for historic architecture.
